Chemical Peeling – The Classic Treatment for Smooth, Clear Skin

Chemical peeling effectively refreshes aging skin

  • on the face
  • on the neck
  • on the décolleté
  • on the backs of the hands
  • on the back

In addition, it is suitable as a non-invasive, generally well tolerated method for treating

Our dermatologists at Rosenpark Clinic will explain to you the method that is appropriate for you, which is adapted to the depth of the skin alteration and your skin type.

How does chemical peeling work and what are the methods?

A chemical substance applied to the surface of the skin destroys targeted parts of the epidermis or the dermis and stimulates its regeneration. During the healing process, the skin tissue regenerates and rejuvenates. It appears smoother, clearer and more youthful.

Superficial peels, for example with clycolic acids in various concentrations

    • freshen the skin
    • improve the superficial skin structure in the case of active acne, preliminary stages of basal cell carcinoma or superficial abnormal pigmentation
    • only affect the epidermis and has very little effect on wrinkles and deep pigment changes

On average, our patients come in to Rosenpark Clinic at least six times for superficial peeling – at 14-day or four-week intervals.

    Moderate peels

    • use various concentrations of trichloracetic acid – also in combination with other substances
    • ablate the entire epidermis with parts of the upper dermis
    • smooth fine wrinkles
    • counteract acne scars
    • eliminate irregular pigmentation
    • have a more profound effect with more pronounced changes

For a good, long-lasting result, repeating the treatment once a year is possible.

    Deep peels

      • use substances containing phenol
      • are effective all the way to the lower layer of skin

Instead of a deep peel, our dermatologists at Rosenpark Clinic prefer fractional laser to successfully treat deep wrinkles, scars, and skin cancer precursors. Only in very servere cases e.g. on the upper lip area phenol peels show superior results.

Is some sort of anesthesia required?

A superficial peel can be performed without anesthesia. For moderate peels, we give the patient some pain-relieving drops before or even during the treatment, as needed. For more information about your options for a comfortable, pain-free treatment see the anesthesia section.

When can I resume normal daily activities?

      Immediately after a superficial peel.

After a moderate peel, you should plan on taking about five days off; thereafter you can conceal redness and swelling with light makeup.

You can find more information in our "Facial rejuvenation" information sheets, which you can request from us free of charge.

      Expert tip:
